Joleen Timko, PhD
Joleen Timko leads Shared Ground, bringing over 15 years of experience as a senior researcher, consultant, and project manager. She works closely with Indigenous Nations, governments, industry, academic institutions, and NGOs to transform technical data into actionable insights for strategic decision-making.
Joleen manages complex projects end-to-end — leading teams, authoring influential reports, and translating technical information into clear guidance that drives real decisions. Her work spans a broad range of sectors (including forestry, protected areas, climate change, mining, and marine), across multiple regulatory jurisdictions (such as BC EAO and DFO FAA), and regions (including BC, Yukon, Alberta, and internationally). She applies mixed methods to produce findings that are rigorous and usable, with deep expertise in qualitative research design, implementation, and analysis. To date, she has led or designed more than 800 interviews and focus groups across seven countries on three continents.
Joleen holds a PhD from the Faculty of Forestry and Environmental Stewardship at the University of British Columbia (UBC). View a copy of her resume.
